Pippins
Self-Catering accommodation sleeping up to 4 people.
The living arrangement is ‘upside down’ with lounge and kitchen upstairs and bedrooms downstairs.
Upstairs
The open-plan living room and kitchen make the most of the surrounding hills, with large windows framing the views and plenty of light from the vaulted ceiling and Velux roof lights. It’s a lovely space to relax after a day exploring the Welsh countryside, with two comfortable sofas and a Smart TV for cosy evenings in.
The kitchen is fully equipped for easy meals, with all the cookware, appliances and thoughtful extras you might need during your stay. A dining table by the window offers the perfect spot to watch the birds on the feeders outside.
We’ve added a few homely touches too – walking maps, guidebooks, binoculars for birdwatching, and a growing collection of books and board games, so there’s always something to enjoy whatever the weather.
Downstairs
The two bedrooms and shower rooms are on the ground floor, designed with comfort and practicality in mind.
The main bedroom features a king-size bed, built-in storage and an en-suite shower room, with views stretching across the Welsh hills. Soft lighting, extra throws and warm tones make it a restful space to unwind after a day outdoors.
The second bedroom has twin beds and the same cosy feel — perfect for friends or family sharing the stay.
You’ll also find handy touches throughout, from the porch with space for coats and boots, to an under-stairs cupboard with garden chairs and a parasol ready for sunny days.
Garden & Outdoor Space
With Castle Hill as a backdrop, the garden at Pippins is a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy the sweeping Welsh views. It’s fully fenced, so dogs can roam safely, and there’s a picnic bench and brick-built barbecue for sunny afternoons. A small pick-your-own herb garden adds a touch of seasonal freshness. The lane to the cottage ends at our gate, meaning no passing traffic—just the occasional walker or local farmer. Parking is conveniently located next to the entrance, and a tap at the front allows for washing off muddy boots or paws. We even include a spare dog tag with our contact number for peace of mind when you’re out exploring. Beyond the garden, an adjacent field provides a great space for dog walking, though it’s not securely fenced like the garden.
Wildlife & Surrounding Land
Pippins is surrounded by beautiful countryside, offering plenty of space to explore and soak in the tranquillity. You might spot bats at dusk or our resident owls hunting at night. Nearby, Tawny Wood—a 9Trees woodland planted in 2020—adds to the charm of the area. We created a wildlife pond in our garden, where guests are welcome to sit and enjoy the views. A bench in the adjacent field overlooks St Michael’s Church in the Ithon River valley, providing a peaceful spot to pause and take in the scenery.
